Pickup Family Reunion

Last weekend we went to Trent's family reunion. This year his family was in charge. We had it at Strawberry Pinnacles and there were over 100 people that came. Here are a few photos of our busy, yet fun family reunion.

yes- I chopped my hair. I needed a change :)

Wheeler Farm

Last week I took the kids to Wheeler Farm for an afternoon. We brought a bunch of peanut butter and jelly sandwich crust to feed to the ducks. Leah was a little freaked out at first about the ducks, but she eventually got more comfortable with the idea.

Let's Go Down Memory Lane

This is a little game going around the "blogging world" so we thought we would do it, too.

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together (Trent or Cally, or both). It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember.

2. Next re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave a memory of you in my comments.
If you don't know how just click on the comments right below this post and follow the instructions to leave a comment.

We're excited to hear from you. This should be interesting.... :)

Endless Summer (We wish!)

We have enjoyed this Summer so much and we don't want it to end. We are trying to fit in as much as we can before the weather starts to get cold and before Connor starts preschool. Here are a few pictures of some fun things we did this week.

Lagoon

The kids and I went to Lagoon with my little sister Breanne and her friend Liz. The kids loved it! There were a lot of fun rides for them. I was surprised how many Leah was able to go on. I wish I had a picture to show you of me on "The Spider". It was like the wild mouse ride except your car turns around. If feels like you are going to fly off the ride. Let's just say I screamed the whole time. It was worth the thrill- I went on it twice.

We walked around the zoo and had a picnic.

Our Love Story

Yesterday Trent and I celebrated eight years of marriage. We got my sister Breanne to babysit for us while Trent and I went to Bambara (at The Hotel Monaco in Salt Lake City) for dinner. It was yummy!
Trent and I filled out this questionnaire separately about our life together and these are our answers:

1- Where did you meet?

T- We first met at Cally's friend Jill's house. My buddies met Cally and her friends the day before at a stoplight and arranged to hang out the next day. My friends brought me along the next day.
C- His friends hit on my friends and I at a stoplight. We hung out with them a few nights later and they brought Trent.

2- What was the first thought that went through your head when you met?

T- I hope she doesn't think I am a goof.
C- I thought he was cute.
3- Do you remember what he/she was wearing?

T- Yes, striped pastel colored tee under denim overalls.
C- Yes, blue and white checkered shirt, khaki shorts with a pager and doc. marten sandals.

4- When was your first kiss?
T- We kissed several months after we met. I was a slow mover. It was in her driveway after a date.
C- Trent was one of the slowest guys I had ever dated. We had been dating awhile and I was waiting for him to make the first move.

5- How did he ask you for the first date?
T- Cally was leaving for Europe in a few days. So, while hanging out as a big group of friends, I said we should go to lunch before she left.
C- I don't know? On the phone?

6- Where did you go on your first date?

T- The Old Spaghetti Factory downtown SLC.
C- He took me to The Old Spaghetti Factory at Trolley Square.

7- How long did you know this person before you became a couple?

T- We hung out as friends for a half a year.
C- Maybe about 6 months.

8- How did you decide to get married?

T- Talking on the phone one night I made the comment that started with "when we are married". That was followed by Cally saying, "speaking of marriage, we joke about it, but have you thought about it seriously happening?" That led to the convo.
C- We had a conversation about marriage one night on the phone. Trent proposed about a month later.

9- When was the first time you realized you liked this person?

T- Hanging out with my friends and her friends July 4, 1998. We had been watching the fireworks in Farmington.
C- When I first met him. Then it grew more and more (cheesy- I know).

10-Do you get along with this person's ex?

T- I get along with all the guys Cally has dated. Well, at least the ones I have met. They are nice guys. I guess I am the only nerd she dated.
C- I don't know her. But, I met her at her wedding reception. Trent took me to it and conveniently didn't tell me exactly how they were friends.
11- What is the most expensive thing this person has given you?

T- Two wonderful children.
C- Our children.

12- What is the one thing this person does that gets on your nerves?

T- Bites fingernails. It is very loud!
C- I am easily annoyed. Poor Trent. But, one of the biggest things is leaving towels or clothes on the floor.

13- Where do you see each other 15 years from now?

T- I see myself about 50 lbs. heavier. I see us having the ability to leave the house together without procuring a babysitter.
C- I don't know if we will be here in this house, or even this state. But, I am sure we'll be enjoying our lives together. (Now that was cheesy!)

Our Life is a Zoo

This week my friend Cami and I took our kids to a place called Kangaroo Zoo. They have a big room of inflatable toys the kids can play on. Our kids had a blast and played hard. All you parents out there know how nice that is when bedtime rolls around. I'm excited to try it out again this Winter so the kids aren't so stuck in the house.

Swimming

At the beginning of the year we bought a season pass to our local recreation center. One of Connor and Leah's favorite things to do is to go swimming there.
Here is a photo of Connor. He was proud of himself because he got on his life jacket by himself. Don't worry Grandmas and Grandpa, we fixed it before he got in the pool.

Random Facts About Me (Trent)

I was hanging out with Cally and all of her friends. I was working at First American Title Company. I had been home from my mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for about a year. I was attending the University of Utah and hanging out a lot in my buddy Matt's basement.

2. I like the movie Mamma Mia (even though Pierce Brosnan is a horrible singer).
3. I think bananas are vile and gross.
4. If I was in charge of grocery shopping we would only buy neccessities- bread, milk, eggs. Even though the milk would go bad because I don't drink it.
5. As a sixth grader I wet myself when a lady started yelling at me because I rode a skateboard in front of her moving vehicle.
What If I Suddenly Had A Million Dollars
I would buy a semi and drive coast to coast. Maybe visit Nashville.

Random Facts About Me (Cally)

I had just met Trent. It was a fun Summer hanging out with my girlfriends and meeting new people.

2. Take the kids swimming
3. Get some photos developed

2. San Diego, California

4. Ephraim, Utah
5. Salt Lake City, Utah
5 Jobs I've Had
1. Snack Bar at a baseball field (Had to quit suddenly because the guy I was dating that worked there turned out to be cuckoo for cocoa puffs. It was better for my own safety to not work there anymore. That should bring back some memories for those who knew me at the time )
2. Two Year Old Child Care Teacher/Assistant Child Care Director (Now that I have a couple of kids I look back on that job and wonder how in the world I handled seven 2-year-olds by myself.)
3. Shelter Advocate at a domestic violence shelter
4. Full time student (that's a job isn't it?)
5. Car seat clip inspector (I wish I could still do this one. You could do it at home and get a bunch of money.)
5 Things You Don't Know About Me
1. When I am tired I have a tendency to stare at things and be deep in thought.
2. I am extremely clastrophobic.
3. This kind of goes along with number 2: I used to be terrified to fly and to go in elevators. I missed out on an 8th grade trip to Washington DC because of it. So- my mom took me to a psychologist. I was young, ok? He was on the ninth floor. My mom offered me 50 bucks if I would ride the elevator to his office. I refused and walked up the nine flights of stairs. I only went to him once because he kind of laughed at me. I find it funny now, I was sort-of offended at the time. I can fly and go on elevators now. I had to get over it on my own. But, if you are ever in an elevator with me and it gets stuck. BEWARE- I will totally freak out!!!
4. I finished my entire degree except for a simple (not for me) general ed. math class. I took it once and failed it. So- I thought if I could be tested and they find I had a math disability I could get out of it. Well- I paid 150 bucks and was tested for two days . Yes- I was right I have a "disability". But- I still had to take the class. So- I paid 150 bucks, wasted two days, it was proved I am not smart in math, and I still had to take the class. For your info- I took the class, got an A-, and got my degree.
5. Tricia is going to like this one, because she was there. I was once punched in the face while sitting in my car at a stoplight. I was 18 at the time. I got out of my car and was in a "physical altercation" with 3 gangster girls (3 against one). I was bloodied a bit, my earring was ripped out and my tail light was broken. What an adventure that was...
What If I Suddenly Had a Million Dollars
I would pay tithing to my church, probably have to pay a ton of taxes on it, pay off my house, travel around the world for a couple of months (there is company that offers an around the world ticket. But- you have to move around the world in one direction), and save the rest for retirement. Does anyone have a million dollars they want to give me? I'll take it off your hands!
3 Ways I Help The Enviornment
1. I have the best diaper pail that re-uses plastic grocery bags.
2. I recycle my phone books.
3. I turn off my car if I am going to be waiting more than 30 seconds.
I know- I need to do better.

Getting to know you. Getting to know all about you.

Trent

This is me. I like myself in this picture cause it shows my good side. Also, I just happen to be wearing one of my favorite shirts. You may recognize it, because I wear it all the time. It is like a close friend. I like pina coladas and gettin' caught in the rain. I like long walks on the beach, and people who are not afraid to cry. I work at the Flying J. Please don't hate me. I have to pay high fuel prices too.
Cally

This is me on the left with my sister Breanne, my mom, and my sister-in-law Kami. We went on a girls trip to Paris and Istanbul in May. It was one of the highlights of my life so far. It was incredible. Traveling is my hobby. It is an expensive one, but I see it as an investment. My days usually consist of taking care of my two cute kids, being a wife, and being the Primary Prez in my ward.

Connor

This is Connor. He just turned 4. Here he is at his Joy School Graduation (joy school is like a preschool that the moms take turns teaching at each other's homes). He loved Joy School! This Fall he will be going to Preschool. Connor loves to dress up in costumes. He also has a strange taste in movies. One of his favorite movies is a weird one called Mac and Me. It is a total rip-off of E.T. It is a struggle for his parents to watch it with him. Here is a clip from the movie. Enjoy!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5le9sYdYkM

Leah

This is Leah. She will be 2 going on 12 in October. She is very passionate about the shoes she wears. She knows which ones she wants to wear and will let us know about it. Her vocabulary is developing more and more each day. If the mood hits her right she can be a chatterbox, especially in Sacrament Meeting. Leah loves to do what her older brother does. They are quite a team.

We are bloggers!

Trent and I have had fun keeping up to date with everyone's lives through their blogs. So- we finally decided to do one for our family! Hopefully we can figure this thing out and not bore anyone too much! Check back later for photos and more entries.
