Happy Halloween!

We love Halloween. The kids are really excited to go trick-or-treating tonight (to get a bunch of candy that they really don't need). Here are a few photos from some fun Halloween things we have done this season.
Leah as Jasmine and Connor as Aladdin. I bought these costumes when I was in Turkey.
(This picture was taken before we took them to a little Halloween Carnival at our church)
Star Wars nerds.
(We are extra nerdy because we actually spent a good Saturday working on these costumes)

Sneaky Kid

If the bathroom door is left open and you aren't watching Leah close enough- expect a disaster. She loves to play in the water in the sink. She says she is washing her hands. The problem is if she is in there long enough unsupervised I will be cleaning up a flood. This is a picture from yesterday. I caught her in time for the water to start flowing out into the hall onto the wood floor.

Something to do on a Wednesday

Connor and his buddy Tyson

I had some dishes in the sink, my kitchen floor needed to be mopped, and I had a ton of laundry to do. Guess what I decided to do? That's right take the kids to the zoo with my friend Kristal. My house is nasty, but we had a good time!

Fire Station

Connor had a field trip with his preschool at the fire station. My friend Mariam has a little boy named Keaton in the same preschool. Connor and him are really good buddies. Mariam and I both took our little ones with us to help out at the field trip. It was really cute and I was glad I could go see how Connor is at preschool. I felt like such a grown-up going with my child on his school field trip :).

Here he is in the fire truck

"Lemelda Marcos"

Leah loves shoes. She loves them so much that her Grandpa has compared her to Imelda Marcos. He likes to call her "Lemelda". Imelda was the first lady to a President of the Philippines. When they were thrown out of power people were outraged at how many shoes she had. She was quoted as saying, "I did not have three thousand pairs of shoes, I had one thousand and sixty".
Leah is on her way to that number. She now has 37 pairs of shoes (not counting her dress up shoes). I will say I did not buy all of those. Many were gifts or just a really good deal on clearance. Like Imelda, Leah is proud of her collection.

Happy Birthday Leah!

Two years ago today I had my daughter Leah. I think she proved this morning that she is officially two. When she woke up this morning Connor and I said "Happy Birthday!" Her reply was "No!" I also found her playing in the sink today. By the time I found her the sink was overflowing with soapy water onto the floor like a stream and into the hallway on our wood floors. My first thought was that I wished I had my camera (I had left it in my friend's car).
Tonight my family is coming over to celebrate. I hope they will come with an appetite because we got Leah a cookie dough ice cream cake from Cold Stone that looks pretty tasty.

Choo Choo Train

On Saturday we took the kids on the new commuter train up to the Layton station. Right there next to the tracks is a great breakfast joint called Doug and Emmy's. They have yummy scones with honey butter. It is a funny (and busy) little place. They have no hostess, you just have to figure out with the rest of the crowd in the entryway who was there first. It was fun- we liked the scones. Do you have any favorite breakfast places? We love breakfast food and want to hear of any good places.

Check out the butter on that huge pancake!

What Would You Do?

A couple of weeks ago we were hanging around our house and Connor dressed up in a cowboy costume. For those of you that know Connor pretty well you know that he LOVES costumes. He had barely put this costume on and I needed to run to Target. He begged to wear it there. After consulating with my friend Kristal I decided to let him (no one at Target said anything about his cowboy get-up. I guess they thought we were hicks).

Our question to you is if you could wear any costume to Target (or any store out in public) what would you wear?

(Trent says he would wear rearless chaps :). I would probably have to go with something scary so people would run away and then I wouldn't have to wait in line).
