Talk Soup

Girl: What about Katrina De Voort? You could totally go out with Katrina De Voort.
Boy: No, I don't like Katrina. She smells like soup. Have you ever smelled her? I mean, her whole house smells like soup!
(This is a quote from one of our favorite movies. Leave a comment if you think you know what movie it is from).

The other night I was reading my kids a story before bed. This is the conversation I had with Connor after the story was over:

Connor: Stoop!
Me: (a little confused about what he just said, but then I figured out he was trying to get around my rules of what bad words he can't say)
You shouldn't say that because it sounds like you are saying stupid.
Connor: No it doesn't- it sounds like soup.

I burst into laughter. Couldn't argue with him there- it was as close to soup as it was to stupid.

Looney Tunes

Things at our house can be a little crazy.
(Don't ask me what Connor is doing in this picture. He doesn't even know. I asked him)

This picture of Leah cracks me up. She is wearing a fez hat I got in Istanbul. It is a hat the Whirling Dervishes wear. She did that to her shirt on her own.

Connor took these next two pictures. I would just like to point out the tape around the window in this picture. That has been up there a good couple of years. We haven't finished painting. Pathetic- I know.

Here Connor captured a photo of me blogging.

Avenues Street Fair- The Black Market

Last weekend my mom had a booth at the Avenues Street Fair in Salt Lake. Her booth was called "The Black Market" (that's my maiden name for those of you that don't know). She makes all kinds of cute crafty things, so our family talked her into trying to sell them. She makes hand loomed beanies, funky retro aprons (the one I am wearing in this picture is made out of my Grandma's old cloth napkins), belts, baby burp cloths, cute pacifier holders, quilts, and a lot more. For the last month I have been up at her house almost everyday tying quilts, pricing items, etc. The fair was held on Saturday and went all day. It was so much fun. I loved it, even though I was pretty exhausted that night. If you want to see her stuff better just click on the photo to enlarge it. We are thinking about getting her a website and some business cards. A lot of people asked if she had a store, so that was exciting. So- if you were wondering what I have been up to lately- this is it:

My Little Boy Is All Grown Up

Last week was Connor's first week of preschool. He is going to a preschool that is held out of a sweet preschool teacher's house. She must really enjoy it because she has been doing it for like 30 years. One of the girls in Connor's class has a mom that went to preschool there. It is two days a week. On the first day of preschool the mom's were suppose to go with the kids and stay with them. On the drive there I told Connor that I would stay with him and that the next time he would go by himself. This is what the little bugger said to me, "No, I want you to go". He didn't want me there the first day. So independent. I'm scared to see what his teenage years will bring.

On the way to Preschool
The kids picked out a picture to color and then their teacher ironed it on a book bag for them.

Cookie Cutters

You know it is time to get your kids' haircut when your little sister tells you your daughter's hair looks like a mullet. Thanks Breanne. So, I took the kids to a cute little place called Cookie Cutters (I should get paid for this endorsement. Hmmm...). It is a really cute place. They have a slide for the kids to play on and computer games, too. The kids got to pick which car to sit in (they sit in a car while getting their hair cut). They also got to pick which movie to watch during their haircut. Connor chose Scooby Doo and Leah chose Care Bears. They did a really good job (my kids I mean. The ladies cutting their hair did good, too). They each got a balloon and a sucker when they were done. It was a fun place. I only wish I had thought of the idea.
